During successive sessions in 1996 and 1997, the General Assembly initiated a restructuring of the work of the national ministries of the Church of God within the United States. This action was taken in order to streamline and enhance services to local congregation for the purpose of more effectively and efficiently fulfilling God's mission for the movement in the 21st century. The result was the formation of Church of God Ministries, Inc.
